Marist Abroad
The Marist International Programs (MIP) offers Marist Business students an exceptional opportunity to broaden their horizons. It also gives them an international perspective of the business world. In today's global economy, it is critical for students to gain experience by living in foreign cultures and to be exposed to different ways of thinking.
The business internship is a critical part of many of the programs offered by the Marist International Programs (MIP). This work
experience, normally taken for credit, puts students in an internship position in a foreign company. The students may
request a placement in virtually any type of organization. Each internship is monitored by a Marist faculty member to
whom the student sends weekly journals and other reports. Students gain hands-on experience in their business emphasis,
learn how businesses operate overseas, and perform tasks that expand on classroom learning. It is a wonderful
opportunity that looks good on any resume, especially as more companies "go global" and recognize the value in hiring
individuals who have cross-cultural experience.
Currently, Marist offers internship and study programs in Australia, England, France, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, and
Spain. While studying at these locations, students will not only receive a broader range of education, they will also get to
visit some of the most famous tourist attractions in the world. For students seeking study in "non-traditional"
regions, Marist participates in programs offered by the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), which
offers a variety of programs in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Future sites planned for business majors are expected
to include Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, and Singapore. Simply put, there is an opportunity available in virtually
any area of the world.
