Marist Theatre Program Performs Classic Cole Porter Musical “Anything Goes” (2/21-2/25)

Marist College

Cole Porter's classic 1934 nautical-themed musical Anything Goes will be presented by the Marist Theatre Program and Marist College Club of Theatre Arts at the Nelly Goletti Theatre on February 21-25, 2018.

While the story follows nightclub singer Reno Sweeney on her journey aboard the S.S. American en route from New York to England, in this show the songs are the true standouts. The production features tap-heavy tunes like "Anything Goes" and "Blow, Gabriel, Blow," along with more delicate numbers such as "All Through the Night" and "It's Delovely."

"This is Cole Porter at his best," said Matt Andrews, Director of the Marist Theatre Program. "The musical numbers carry a bounce and excitement that remains constant across the score."

The production is a collaboration between faculty, professional guest artists and a cast and crew of 52 students. Anything Goes features 16 piece live orchestra, period costumes and a two-story set.

Anything Goes is appropriate for all ages, but no children under 6 will be admitted. There will be six performances: February 21, 22, and 23, at 8:00pm, February 24, at 2:00pm and 8:00pm, and February 25 at 2:00pm. Reservations are strongly encouraged; email Boxofficemccta@gmail.com with the date, time, and number of tickets to reserve. Tickets are $12 for general admission, $6 students and senior citizens.
