"No Impact Man" Colin Beavan to Deliver Keynote, Screen Film at Marist's 6th Annual Sustainability Day
POUGHKEEPSIE - Colin Beavan, author of No Impact Man and subject of the documentary of the same name, will deliver the keynote address at Marist's 6th Annual Sustainability Day, February 28, which includes a full slate of films, speakers, workshops and displays focusing on this year's theme, "Watch Your Step: Know Your Ecological Footprint." All events take place in the Student Center and are free and open to the public.
Beavan's book and the film document "the adventures of a guilty liberal who attempts to save the planet, and the discoveries he makes about himself and our way of life in the process."
Other environmental documentaries will be screened in the Lowell Thomas Screening Room (LT 019) in the days leading up to Sustainability Day, including Idle Threat, George Pakenham's film about his five-year campaign to get New York City motorists to turn off their idling engines and reduce air pollution. The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the director.
