As part of the joint research relationship, Marist tested and deployed the BlackRidge solution to protect the College’s internal network management devices. Due to the ease-of-use and the integration BlackRidge has with existing identity management systems, going from the proof-of-concept environment to deployment took less than a day. The next field trials will include setting up secured network spans that will protect the College’s Academic Community Cloud that leverages multiple IBM z Systems.

Marist’s Academic Community Cloud provides secured shared services and learning analytics to a number of K-12 and higher education institutions. Additionally, Marist will provide assistance to BlackRidge in their initiative to develop advanced professional curriculum for cybersecurity field experts and practitioners.

"The data security standards for higher education are highly regulated and, until now, we have spent most of our time protecting the castle from anyone who would approach and try to kick down the door and access secured data," said Bill Thirsk, Vice President of Information Technology & CIO at Marist College. "With the BlackRidge solution set, not only will we be able to stop intruders from using secured network segments, they will not be able to see the castle. No approach, no breach. The BlackRidge solution represents a new way to look at cybersecurity."

BlackRidge Technology provides a fundamentally new way to protect against advanced and unknown threats with its military-grade First Packet Authentication technology that stops cyber-attacks and breaches by cloaking servers and segmenting networks from unauthorized users.

"We are pleased to have Marist College using BlackRidge to protect their network management systems," said Bob Graham, CEO of BlackRidge Technology. "We look forward to our collaboration that includes further protecting the College’s shared services cloud on IBM z Systems and securing SDN controller communications and NFV deployments. Integrating our leading-edge cybersecurity solution with IBM z Series, the most secure servers in the world, will give Marist the best of both worlds."
