Mid-Hudson Regional Business Plan Competition
Marist to host April 11 event ahead of statewide final
POUGHKEEPSIE (Feb. 27, 2014) – Marist College will again host the Mid-Hudson Regional Business Plan Competition. This is one of ten regional competitions throughout New York that will send top teams to the statewide competition in Albany later in April, where they will vie for thousands of dollars in cash and in-kind services.
Participating student teams will have the rare opportunity to engage with actual investors and other seasoned entrepreneurs. Winners are selected each year by judges with extensive experience, including venture capitalists, investment bankers, and other public and private investors.
The regional business plan competition was established in 2010 and organized by the SUNY College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) with a focus on energy technology. Since 2010, over 570 student teams have pitched their ideas and ventures at this competition and the number of participating institutions has increased since inception from from five to more than 50. By the end of 2013, more than $800,000 in cash and in-kind prizes have been awarded to student entrepreneurs in New York through the competition.
