"Forms and Figures", Exhibition by Professor Ed Smith
POUGHKEEPSIE (September 27, 2017) – Arts Place, Portland, Indiana is the location of a current exhibit by Ed Smith, associate professor of art and art history and art gallery director at Marist College. The exhibit will be on display Sept. 1 through Oct. 1. The featured pieces are centered on the Hellenistic Period of Ancient Greek history.
The exhibit represents a long time passion of Smith's. Homer's "Iliad," a poem about the Trojan war, was the driving force behind the exhibition. "The Iliad is a guide to life," said Smith. "It was the closest thing that the Greeks had to a bible at the time. When Homer wrote these things, they were instructions on how you should act."
