POUGHKEEPSIE (April 30, 2014) – Earlier this month, Marist was named the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Zone 3 Region 3 Reserve High Point Team for the 2013-2014 season. A show team of 25 Marist riders produced ten regional qualifiers, and from that field, two riders qualified for Zone finals. After competing in a field of nine collegiate equestrian powerhouses, including the likes of Centenary College, the United States Military Academy at West Point, and Drew University, the Marist team's achievement was no small feat, representing as it did a second-place finish for a team which, unlike it's competitors, does not offer equine studies programs or riding scholarships and does not recruit riders.

"The Marist Equestrian Team had a fantastic year.," said Coach Clare Knapp. "With many underclassmen riders returning in the Fall of 2014, along with some strong incoming freshman, the team is poised for even greater success next season."
Knapp attributes the team's growing success to the riders' commitment, determination and camaraderie. "The Marist Equestrian Team competes in one of the most competitive intercollegiate regions in the country. I am proud of their accomplishments, including the recent distinction and a November victory over past national championship teams."
