PHILOSOPHER/FILM CRITIC DR. NOEL CARROLL TO SPEAK AT MARIST
POUGHKEEPSIE -
Dr. Noel Carroll, an authority on the philosophy of film, will speak on "Comic Amusement, Emotion, and Cognition" on October 14 at 8 p.m. in the Henry Hudson Room of Fontaine Hall on the Marist campus. The event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the lecture.
Dr. Carroll is the author of numerous books that explore the philosophy of film, including The Philosophy of Motion Pictures (2008) and Comedy Incarnate: Buster Keaton, Physical Humor and Bodily Coping (2007). His essays and articles have appeared widely in journals including Film Quarterly and ArtForum. Carroll is a Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at the CUNY Graduate Center.
