THREE TO RECEIVE MARIST AWARD FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE
POUGHKEEPSIE -
Anthony V. Campilii, Mary Law Moody, and Elizabeth Mylod Wolf will receive the 2009 Marist College President's Award for Community Service at the 42nd annual President's Community Breakfast on Friday, October 16. The breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. in the Student Center Cabaret on the Marist campus.
"Each recipient personifies the Marist ideals of commitment to excellence in education, dedication to the principle of service, and understanding the importance of community," said Marist College President Dennis J. Murray. "Each has made the Hudson River Valley a great place to live, learn, and work."
Campilii retired from Marist in 2005 as vice president and chief financial officer, capping a 43-year career at the college. A native of Wappingers Falls, Campilii received the first business degree awarded by Marist in 1962. Campilii has held leadership positions and serves on the boards of the Grinnell Library, the United Way of Dutchess County, Locust Grove, the Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill, the Vassar-Warner Adult Residence, the Wappingers Playgroup Nursery School, the Marist College Center for Lifetime Studies, and the Dutchess County Task Force on Compensation and Benefits for Elected Officials and Management Personnel.
Campilii formerly served as treasurer of the Village of Wappingers Falls, president of the Parish Council at Saint Mary's Church in the village, president and board member of the Mental Health Association of Dutchess County, president and board member of the Dutchess County Cooperative Extension, treasurer of the Marist College Alumni Association, board member of the Dutchess County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, and a fundraiser for Our Lady of Lourdes High School.
Moody, a native of Louisiana who moved to Dutchess County 45 years ago, was a public school teacher and then became director of volunteer services at Saint Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie. Moody has long been active with the Dutchess County Interfaith Council, particularly as a fundraiser for the council's annual CROP Walk, for which she has raised approximately $1 million for hunger programs. She served on the boards of the Dutchess County Girl Scout Council and the Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill, including terms as president of both organizations.
Moody also volunteers for the American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Dutchess County Office for the Aging, and Parkinson's Disease Support Group. She is a member of the Human Resources Advisory Committee at Dutchess Community College and has long been active with the Dutchess County League of Women Voters and as an election inspector for the Dutchess County Board of Elections in the town of Beekman.
Wolf has served on the Marist board of trustees since 1987. Active in her parish of Saint Stanislaus Kostka in Pleasant Valley, Wolf is a member of the Dutchess County Vicariate Council and served as a representative to the 18th Synod of the Archdiocese of New York. She is a past president of the Saint Francis Hospital and Dutchess County Bar Association auxiliaries.
Currently the president of the board of the Cardinal Hayes Home for Special Children, Wolf has also served on the boards of the Dutchess County Interfaith Council, Lutheran Care Center at Concord Village, Friends of Mills Mansion, and Friends of Locust Grove. She is a recipient of the Saint Francis Hospital Franciscan Award, the Saint Cabrini Home Gold Medal Human Service Award, and the Saint Angela Merici Medal from her alma mater, the College of New Rochelle.
More than 100 local residents have received the Marist College President's Award for Community Service since its inception in 1968. Approximately 270 people are expected to attend the event.
