MARIST TO HOST FARMER'S MARKET WEDNESDAY ON CAMPUS GREEN

POUGHKEEPSIE - Marist College will host a farmer's market on Wednesday, October 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the campus green. The market is open to the general public and will be held rain or shine. Vendors from local farms will offer a wide array of products including produce, baked goods, and pumpkins, as well as hemp jewelry from Woodstock (Ulster County). All sales are cash only.

Students from Dr. Mary Alexander's communications capping class, with support from the Student Government Association's GREEN Committee, arranged for the market in an effort to promote the "slow food movement" and locally grown foods, to support regional farmers and small businesses, and to present ways to lead a more sustainable lifestyle.

Members of the student club SEED and the college's sustainability committee will provide information about their campus environmental efforts. The a cappella groups Sirens and Time Check will provide entertainment.
