Update: This story has been updated to reflect that the event is taking place in the Fusco Recital Hall

POUGHKEEPSIE (March 15, 2017) – This year marks the bicentennial of the founding of the Marist Brothers by the French priest Saint Marcellin Champagnat. Marist will mark the occasion with a choral tribute performed by the Marist College Chamber Choir on Wednesday, March 22 at 7 p.m. in the Fusco Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

The Brothers were founded in 1817 with a mission of educating young people, particularly the most neglected. Today, there are 3,500 Marist Brothers working in 81 countries on five continents. The Brothers work alongside 72,000 laypeople to provide an outstanding education to approximately 654,000 children and young people.

As the founders of Marist College, the Brothers passed along the values that continue to guide the College's work every day: excellence in education, a sense of community, and a commitment to service.
