Marist Theatre Program and MCCTA to stage Shakespeare's comedy

Poughkeepsie, NY (Oct. 26, 2016) – The Marist College Club of Theatre Arts in conjunction with Marist Theatre Program is proud to present the Shakespearean comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream as its fall mainstage production. This tale of of romance, misadventure, magic and mayhem is directed by Jim Steinmeyer

The show will run from Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 27, 28, 29 at 8 p.m. and Sunday Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. in the Nelly Goletti Theatre in The Murray Student Center. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a comedy filled to the brim with lovers, fairies, and fantasy. As lovers Lysander, Hermia, Demetrius, and Helena leave Athens and enter the forest, confusion and misadventure occur at the hands of Puck and the fairies. Ending with the wedding of all weddings and a play within a play, Shakespeare's wit, poetry, and creativity are paramount in this romantic tale. The timeless comedy is sure to entice a few laughs and charm you into believing all the mayhem was just a dream.

About The Marist College Club of Theatre Arts

Established in 1959, MCCTA (Marist College Club on Theatre Arts) is the college's student-run theatre organization and its oldest student club, as well as one its largest and most active. MCCTA produces several productions each year, including a musical, a comedy and a drama, an original play festival, dinner theatre, and a children's theatre production. Past campus productions include A Chorus Line, Godspell, The Wedding Singer, Cabaret, Into the Woods, and others.
