11th Annual Campus Sustainability Week

Marist College's 11th Annual Campus Sustainability Week will take place Monday, October 23 through Friday, October 27, 2017.  The program theme is "Sustainability: A State of Affairs"  featuring a variety of programs and workshops.

Monday, October 23, 7:00 p.m., Nelly Golleti Theater, Dr. Robert Pollin, Professor of Economics and Co-Director of Political Economy Research Institute (PERI), University of Massachusetts - Amherst.  Dr. Pollin's presentation is on The New Green Deal: Global Perspectives and a NYS Program.  This lecture is also part of the College's Autumn Lecture Series.

Monday, October 23, ongoing between 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., tour of the College's Campus Garden, Murray Student Center, west side (river side).  Information also available about the College's dining service program to source its food products regionally  from Hudson River Valley farms. 

Tuesday, October 24, 5:00 p.m. and 8:00p.m., Murray Student Center 3101, film showings, Before the Flood.  Oscar-winning filmmaker Fisher Stevens (The Cove) teams up with producer/host Leonardo DiCaprio in this vivid piece of environmental advocacy about the threats of climate change.

Wednesday, October 25, 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., Murray Student Center 3101, Clothing Repair Cafe sponsored by Marist Ethical Fashion Club.  Bring your old clothes that are in need of repair!

Thursday, October 26, 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Murray Student Center 3101, Career Opportunities in the Green Economy featuring Marist alumni and their recent work experiences.

Friday, October 27, 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Murray Student Center 3102, Environmental Mixer.  Join with Marist students and community members to learn about volunteer opportunities in the Hudson River Valley.  Local non-profit agencies will be present to share information about their programs, services and student involvement.

During the week, look for information displays across campus at food service locations highlighting environmental issues facing New York State.

Valley Cafe: Every Tuesday from 11:30am to 1:30pm in the Cabaret and Thursday from 4:30pm to 8:00pm in the Main Dining Room during the fall and spring semesters, Marist Dining Services and Student Affairs sponsor The Valley Cafe.  You can find additional details about the Valley Cafe as well as the week's offerings at Marist Dining Service's Locations site.
