Participation in the Criminal Justice Society (CJS) allows students to gather informally to meet, share experiences, and discuss plans for the future. Guest speakers are often brought to campus through the direction of CJS. Visits to various agencies and faculties are coordinated through CJS. The Society hosts an annual Criminal Justice Career Day where representatives from Criminal Justice agencies, services, and departments distribute job applications and descriptions. Delta Chi is our chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma, the national criminal justice honor society. Students must maintain a grade-point-average of 3.2 in the major and 3.0 overall to be considered for membership. Students graduating with a cumulative 3.5 GPA are given preference in most federal agency positions.
The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking and decision making which all allows students to pursue a range of vocations that call for these abilities. Graduates have found employment with the gamut of federal, state, and local governments, as well as in private industry. A sample of these are:
