In a nutshell our focus is your personal and professional growth. At Marist we are convinced that this process is highly individualistic. Ideally it should occur in a one-to-one, tutorial setting. We try to approach that ideal in small classes where we get to know our students well. If you need us we can be right at your elbow in the laboratory, but we also know how to give you the room you need to become self-reliant and independent. Like a challenge? We'll give it to you. Need some direction? You've got it. We encourage drop-in office visits where we provide one-to-one faculty-student program planning with career and advanced study goals in mind. You will find the Chemistry Department a small and close-knit group and you will very soon find your place in it.
The sooner this happens, the better, because once you feel at home with us, you will be in the best position to take advantage of what is very special at Marist in chemistry: many opportunities for give and take with your professors and fellow students, an exchange that will make your education exciting and productive, even fun.
The Marist Approach: Concentrate on the development of critical skills.
