National Certification Examinations
Although not a requirement for graduation, students are prepared for and eligible to take national certification examinations. Two exams are available through the:

The Board of Registry is an independent certification agency that sets standards which ensure the competency of medical laboratory professionals.
The Board of Registry certifies those individuals who meet the academic and clinical prerequisites and who achieve acceptable performance levels on examinations. Marist Medical Technology graduates meet the eligibility requirements for the medical technologist, MT(ASCP), examination.
Examinations are offered on computer throughout the year in three- month examination periods. The Medical Technology (MT) examination application fee is $145.

The National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel, Inc. is a voluntary, nonprofit organization which conducts certification of laboratory personnel through national peer-developed examinations. The concept of recertification is also endorsed, either through re-examination or the accumulation of continuing education units, to assess continued competence in the category in which an individual is certified.
The NCA certification examinations are offered on computer, daily (Monday-Friday), throughout the year. The examination fee for the Clinical Laboratory Scientist, CLS, category of examination is $145.
