On August 17-21, 2008, Assistant Professor of Chemistry Dr. Jocelyn Nadeau and several students participated in the 236th American Chemical Society National Meeting and Exposition in Philadelphia, PA.
Senior Christine Schenck (Walden, NY), shown in the photo to the right, presented a poster featuring her research findings titled “Synthesis and study of segmented conducting polymers with axial chirality,” co-authored by Dr. Nadeau.
Senior Andrew DeBlase and sophomore Catherine DeBlase (both of Hopewell Junction, NY), shown in the photo to the right, also presented a poster titled “Toward the synthesis of c-shaped electroactive monomers for the study of charge migration in conducting polymers,” co-authored by Dr. Nadeau and alumnus William Shearouse (Chem, ’07).
These findings represent outcomes from research conducted over the past several years in Dr. Nadeau’s lab, which focuses on the synthesis and characterization of small organic molecules and polymers with interesting photochemical and/or electrochemical properties for the study of donor-acceptor interactions and charge-transport phenomena. This work has been supported by grants to Dr. Nadeau from the American Chemical Society-Petroleum Research Fund and matching funds from Marist College.
