My earliest Marist memory is...living on the edge as Marist College grew around me as a student back in the early 60's. When I returned in 1991, it felt like I was becoming part of a compassionate community of adults.

When I think of heroes, I think of...Pope John XXIII, a man of great compassion and humanity. And JFK, a man with love of life and excitement about what we as people could do.

One of my favorite movies is...any of the Star Trek series! They offer a sense of adventure and courage and clear statements about living together in harmony with people of different cultures and gender.

My friends would describe me as...understanding, gentle, devoted, and non-judgmental.

My parents used to always say to me...be honest with people.

My biggest "mentor" growing up was..."Pop Schroeder." He was a man in our neighborhood who, because of his job, had lots of free time. He developed many hobbies which he then invited the neighborhood kids to be a part of. He became a second father to many of these children, thus the nickname "Pop."

If I could travel anywhere in the world, I'd...return to Quantico Provincial Park in Canada. It is a primitive wilderness area that touches my heart and imagination.

My message to the students of Marist is...be authentic and honest with yourself and others. Do what YOU want to do not what others push you to do or become. Be a person of values and be sure your feet are heading in the same direction as your mouth and mind.
