Involuntary Leave and Withdrawal of Students for Medical Reasons

A student will be subject to leave/withdrawal for medical reasons if the Case Consultation Team (the Director of Health Services, the Director of Counseling Center, the Director of Housing and Residential Life and/or the Vice President for Student Affairs designee) concludes, on the basis of clear and convincing evidence, that the student is suffering from a medical or mental health disorder, as defined by the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders or its equivalent; and, further, that as a result of the condition, the student engages or threatens to engage in behavior that poses a danger of causing harm to the student or to others, or disrupts the activities of other members of the campus community.

A detailed description of the policy and procedures can be found in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, Rotunda 389.
