Q. Why should I attend Summer Pre-College at Marist?

A. Marist's Summer Pre-College program is an exciting way for students to gain a unique college experience while still in high school. 

Academically, the students will be receiving 3 transferable college credits. Taught by Marist's nationally-recognized faculty, the programs will provide a challenging, yet equally rewarding experience. The program allows students to utilize state-of-the-art technology, gain hands-on experience in their respective field, and earn three college credits. 


Socially, students will be working and residing with diverse classmates from around the world! They will reside in campus dorms, enjoy meals in our dining hall, and explore different careers they might like to pursue.

Professionally, Pre-College graduates gain the skills and confidence essential for success, regardless of where they plan to study in the future. Students will work one-on-one with Marist faculty and admission representatives, creating an outstanding support network as they continue their college search process. Students can request a one-on-one interview with an admission counselor in-person or virtually, and/or a letter of recommendation from their Marist professor, a strong addition to any college application. 

Q. Who is eligible for Summer Pre-College?

A. The program is geared towards rising juniors and seniors in high school. Rising sophomores and graduating seniors may still apply and will be reviewed on a space-available basis.

Q. How do interested students go about the application process?

A. Prospective students shall submit a completed application, official high school transcripts (with Pre-College Transcript Request Form) , one Pre-College Recommendation Form  , and a short essay about their interest in a Marist Summer Pre-College program.

Q. When is the application deadline?

A. Acceptance into the Summer Pre-College Program is on a rolling, space-available basis per program.

Q. When will I hear back regarding a decision on my application?

A. Admission to Summer Pre-College is rolling. It typically takes up to 14 days to complete your application and share it with the Admission Committee. At the point your application becomes complete, it will take 2-3 weeks to receive an admission decision. Admission decisions will be delivered via US Post Office Mail.

Q. What is the cost of Summer Pre-College at Marist?

Please see below for the 2024 Pre-College program costs. Cost includes tuition & fees, housing & all meals, field trips, and all course materials. Cost does not include travel expenses. Students may wish to bring funds for incidentals, shopping at the Marist Bookstore or the local mall, souvenirs, and any personal items they wish to purchase.

  • New York Session I or Session II, 3 college credits: $3,500
  • New York Session I and Session II, 6 college credits: $6,300 
  • Virtual Session, 3 college credits: $1,500

Q. Are any types of financial aid available for prospective students?

A. Currently, there is no funding available.

Q. What are the dates of the program?

Marist will offer nearly 20 unique programs in June and July. Dates for both in-person 

New York In-Person Session I: June 30 - July 13, 2024
New York In-Person Session II: July 14 - 27, 2024
Virtual Session: July 8 - 26, 2024

Students may participate in multiple sessions, provided dates do not overlap.

Q. Can I stay for multiple courses?

A. Yes! Students can choose one program for three college credits in Session I or Session II, or stay for both sessions and earn 6 college credits over a 4-week period.

Q. Are the students supervised?

A. In order to gain the most of campus life at Marist College, students will be supervised by both a Resident Director (full-time staff member) and Residential Assistants. Our primary goal is to make sure the students are safe during their time on campus. Students will be supervised 24 hours per day.

Q. Where will we live? Where will we eat?

A. Pre-College students will live in Marist College's residence halls and eat in the Marist dining hall. 

Q. Will this count for college credit?

A. Students will earn 3 transferable college credits upon completion of the course. Course descriptions can be found on the Programs page. Please note: while most colleges and universities will accept these credits, each institution will evaluate them to determine their transferability.

Q. How hard is the work?

A. You will be tackling college-level material. You will be challenged, but also encouraged in your learning experience by faculty instructors dedicated to helping you. This program will provide a strong idea of what college work will be like for you.

Q. I receive accommodations in high school, are accommodations available during the Summer Pre-College program? 

A. Accommodations are available during the program and students have been successful in previous years. However, previous students have been most successful when they’ve contacted us in advance to ensure the support they need is available during the program. We recommend contacting us to speak about your specific needs and to ensure you will be academically and socially successful during the program.

Q. I plan on flying to New York, what is the best way to get from the plane to the Marist College campus?

For students planning on flying into the New York City area, or for residents of New York City, Marist will be providing shuttle service to and from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). 

  • Session I Shuttles: The shuttle will leave the airport Saturday, June 29, by 4 p.m. and will return students to the airport on Saturday, July 13. In order to allocate enough time to go through security and get to your terminal, we recommend booking returning flights no earlier than 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 13. Students taking the return shuttle to JFK will be contacted with the specific time and location for departure from Marist. 
     
  • Session II Shuttles: The shuttle will leave the airport Saturday, July 13 by 4 p.m. and will return students to the airport on Saturday, July 27. In order to allocate enough time to go through security and get to your terminal, we recommend booking returning flights no earlier than 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 27. Students taking the return shuttle to JFK will be contacted with the specific time and location for departure from Marist.

Q. Can International Students apply for Summer Pre-College?

A. Unfortunately, due to the short-term status of the program The US Department of State prohibits us from issuing F-1 student Visa’s required for non US citizens to enroll. Students are able to enroll in our virtual Cybersecurity program. If you would like to speak with an admission counselor, please contact our office at (845) 575-3226.
