James DuMond

Dr. DuMond was named Dean of the School of Science in June 2012. Prior to joining Marist, Dr. DuMond served as associate dean of academic affairs for the College of Science and Technology at Texas Southern University (TSU) in Houston. Previously, he served TSU as founding chair of the Department of Environmental Sciences and founding director of its Proteomics and Functional Genomics Facility.

Dr. DuMond has been part of several NIH-, NSF-, and NASA-funded research projects. Throughout these research efforts his focus has remained true to his chosen field of environmental carcinogenesis, his interested in which developed while he served as a National Cancer Institute Post-Doctoral Fellow.

Dr. DuMond received his PhD in environmental health sciences/environmental toxicology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1999, his MS in industrial hygiene from Montana Tech, and his BS in biology with a minor in geology from Eastern Montana College.

His research has been published in leading scholarly journals, including "Chemical Research in Toxicology," "Journal of Cellular Biochemistry," "Mutation Research,"and "Applied Occupational Safety and Environmental Hygiene."
