FYS 101 Cash or Credit

This course is designed for freshmen to understand the role that culture, law, politics and the international financial system have in reshaping personal and societal attitudes towards money and credit. Students will develop not only an appreciation of the role that credit has in the US and international financial system but also the role that social institutions and mass marketing campaigns have in influencing their attitudes toward credit and debt. In addition, students will develop practical skills on how to create a personal budget and strategies to use credit at their own advantage (such as high credit scores) as well as the perils of graduating with high levels of consumer debt.
