FYS 101  The Human Body in Sickness & Health

This course is a brief exploration of the structure and function of the human body when healthy, and what
happens to it during a disease or illness. Topics such as symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, the burden of
disease on individuals and society, and disease prevention will be discussed.  A strong emphasis will be
placed on literature research, differentiating reliable from non-reliable resources, composing well-constructed
essays and papers, and oral presentations.
