FYS 101 Social Justice: From the Sidelines to the Frontlines

Do you want to change the world, influence change in your neighborhood, or maybe you just want to make a difference? Maybe you are concerned with environmental issues, human rights, healthcare, or hunger? Where do we start to right the everyday injustices? By examining the work of notable social activists and their impact on social change, students will identify the varied characteristics of a social change agent, explore the processes of making change, and develop the skills necessary to impact change. Students will  investigate  social, economic, and environmental issues through readings and case studies, research, engaging with the local community, and discussion and presentations with local community activists.
