Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie Academic Partnership
On January 21, 1847, a group of Poughkeepsie women met to form the Female Guardian Society to care for abandoned and neglected children in their community. Their belief was that all children deserve a nurturing and caring environment and more than 169 years later, their work continues.
Today, the Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie provides a range of services to children, youth, and their families in one or more of the five programs that comprise their continuum of care. With a staff of nearly 200 including a team of social workers, case workers, nurses, child care workers and program staff it is their mission to provide a safe and nurturing environment that improves lives and empowers at-risk children and families in the Hudson Valley and surrounding communities.
The Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie operates with core values such as integrity, stewardship, and respect combined with the philosophy that all children have the right to a protective, nurturing environment and that society has an obligation to assure that right. Their dedicated staff is committed to reuniting children with their families and giving them the skills they need to become self-reliable young adults.
As a way of saying "thank you" to the many Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie employees who reside in our community, Marist College is offering special tuition pricing for all employees and their immediate adult family members.
