Sports Marketing Master’s Degree Seminar

One-on-One with Bryant Gumbel

The Center for Sports Communication invites all interested students to "One-on-One with Bryant Gumbel," a special conversation with one of the nation's premier sports broadcasters and host of HBO's Real Sports. A Q&A session will follow. The program will take place on Thursday, November 29, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the Nelly Goletti Theatre. It promises to be a dynamic exchange touching on many of the issues, controversies, and personalities that are prevalent in the world of contemporary sports.

Bryant Gumbel
is an Emmy Award-winning broadcaster and journalist, who began his 40-year career as a sportscaster at Los Angeles’s KNBC before going on to become a household name as co-host of the Today Show  for 15 years. His current show, Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, has won 21 Sports Emmys since it debuted on HBO in 1995. It is celebrated for its in-depth features on professional and amateur athletes.

In conversation with Gumbel will be Associate Professor Keith Strudler, director of the Center for Sports Communication. Founded in October of 2011, the center promotes the study and practice of sports communication by, among other means, bringing sports media professionals together with Marist students.
