English Language Proficiency

International Graduate Applicants

One of the following exams is required for non-Native English-speaking students:

  • TOEFL - Students must submit a minimum score of 550 on the paper-based TOEFL exam or a 213 on the computer-based TOEFL or a 79 on the Internet-based TOEFL exam
Note: Scores must be less than two years old from the first day of class of the proposed term of entry.
  • IELTS - Students must submit a minimum score of 6.5
Note: Scores must be less than two years old from the first day of class of the proposed entry term.
  • PTE - Students must submit a minimum score of 58
Note: Scores must be less than two years old from the first day of class of the proposed entry term.

NoteAll test scores must come directly from the Testing Service to Marist College. The Marist report code is 2400. Copies of test scores will delay the admission process since an I-20 will not be issued until official GRE and IELTS/TOEFL/PTE documents have been verified.

The English Proficiency Exam requirement can be waived for students who have met any of the following criteria:

  • Attended a U.S. high school for a minimum of four years
  • Completed one academic year studying at a United States college or university
