"Can 2014 or 1016 Fix a Broken Washington?" - Marist Poll Panel Discussion

In celebration of the Marist Poll's 35th Anniversary, Dr. Lee Miringoff and Dr. Barbara Carvalho '79 moderated a panel discussion at the Paley Center for Media in New York City on March 13, 2014. The panelists included: Mark Murray - NBC News Senior Political Editor; Steve Thomma - Senior White House Correspondent and Government and Politics Editor for McClatchy Newspapers; Michael Oreskes - Vice President and Senior Managing Editor of the Associated Press; Amy Walter - National Editor of The Cook Political Report. Following the panel discussion, alumni, friends and colleagues gathered for a reception at the Paley Center.


Marist and design icon Betsey Johnson team up at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

On Wednesday, February 12, 2014, during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York City, more than 800 Marist students, alumni, families and friends joined in acknowledging designer Betsey Johnson's remarkable career, endless creativity, and dedication to students,with a Silver Needle Icon Award. In The Salon at Lincoln Center, the Marist Fashion Program along with LDJ Productions, owned by Marist Trustee Laurie DeJong '87, produced an encore presentation of Betsey Johnson’s latest show for fashion students from Marist, FIT and Parsons, as well as prospective students and alumni. At the end of the show, Fashion Program Director Radley Cramer and President Dennis J. Murray joined Betsey for her infamous split on stage after presenting her with the second Silver Needle Icon Award. The first was given to the legendary Pauline Trigere, in 2000.

Marist guests gathered at the grand Avery Fisher Hall following the show for a celebratory reception. A special thank you goes to alumni J.R. Morrissey '88 and Laurie DeJong '87 for their instrumental roles in the two events.

The Marist Poll's 35 Anniversary Celebration

On Saturday, November 16, 2013, more than 230 alumni, students, staff, faculty, and friends gathered to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Marist Poll. Guests received a tour of the new MIPO space in the Hancock Center, a dinner reception, and a special performance from "The Capitol Steps".


Marist Day at the Hermitage Club

More than 200 alumni, students, parents and friends spent Friday, January 25, 2013 at The Hermitage Club in West Dover, Vermont. Through the hospitality of Marist Trustee Jim Barnes '84 and his wife Donna, all skiing, snow boarding, snow shoeing, ice skating and snow tubing was free for the entire day. The day ended with a reception at The Hermitage Inn at which President Dennis J. Murray provided a College Update.
