2015 School of Communication & The Arts Open House
Over the weekend the School of Communication & The Arts welcomed the Marist Class of 2019. The Department held various events for prospective students including student and faculty panels. Dr. Roper presented Marist’s hands-on Communication curriculum to a full room of prospective families. During the panel, Marist senior and public relations major Maria Gironas spoke about her classes and relationship with faculty in the department. Professor McNulty presented the department’s various internship programs such as Marist in Manhattan and international internship opportunities. The afternoon sessions were broken into the different concentrations where parents and students learned about the breakdown of each program and course selections. Fashionology was open all weekend for families to shop and learn more about the fashion program. The Sports Communication ESPN Radio Show was on air outside of the McCann center attracting many media students. At the activity fair, PRSSA and Communication Arts Society spoke with prospective communication students about ways to get involved in their concentrations outside of the classroom. In addition, the Steel Plant was open for families to explore the digital labs and view current students’ artwork. The Marist orchestra, band, and Singers performed and entertained families during the luncheon with President Murray. Throughout the weekend faculty and students were encouraged to take photos and use #MaristSCAOpenHouse for SCA’s Instagram and Facebook accounts. Over the weekend, the Instagram account gained seventeen new followers and the Facebook page gained eight. Overall, it was a very successful weekend and we look forward to seeing the Marist Class of 2019 on campus in the fall!
