Marist PRSSA Conference: Developing A Well-Rounded Professional

 The first ever Marist College PRSSA Regional Conference was a success! The Marist Regional Conference, “Developing a Well-Rounded Professional,” explored the public relations industry from a variety of disciplines and perspectives. The weekend kicked off with a networking event at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Home in Hyde Park. Students were able to speak with Justin Meise, a Marist Alum and founder/president of Buttonwood Communications Group. Throughout the weekend students attended sessions with Marist Communication faculty including Keith Strudler and Tim Massie who spoke about the sport public relations industry and best PR writing practices. Marist Alum Michael O’Brien spoke about his experience with Ketchum and the role of storytelling in Public Relations. In addition, Marist PRSSA welcomed Gita McCutcheon, a seasoned public relations and marketing professional, founder of Gita Group in 2006. She spoke about opportunities in the food public relations field. Keynote Speaker Michael O’Looney spoke about his career and shared his life lessons with students. The conference concluded with a panel on “Finding Your Niche in the PR Industry.” The PRSSA Conference board would like to thank all of the sponsors, speakers, and attendees that made this event possible!
