High School Programs

High School 1

The High School 1 program offers any qualified high school junior or senior the opportunity to take one course a semester at Marist College.

Courses:

High School 1 students may take any Marist course for which they have the required preparation and pre-requisites.

Fee:

$125 per credit.

Registration:

Interested students should follow this procedure:

• Obtain a written statement on the high school stationery from the student's high school counselor stating that the student maintains a grade point average of at least 85 and is capable of succeeding in a college-level course.
• Obtain an Official High School Transcript.
• Make an appointment with the Director of the High School 1 Program. (845) 575-3300.
• Complete the High School 1 Registration Form.
• At the registration appointment the student must bring the letter from the high school, the Official High School Transcript, the completed registration form and a check for the correct amount made out to Marist College.

School/College

The School/College Program offers high school students the opportunity to take Marist approved courses in their high schools for Marist College credit.

Courses Offered:

Each high school has its own course offerings. These courses have been approved by the College for credit. The instructors have also been approved by Marist. Interested students should check with their high school regarding the school/college courses offered.

Requirements for School/College Students:

• This program is available to high school juniors and seniors.
• Students wishing to register for School/College courses must fulfill the criteria established for the course including any pre-requisite courses.
• A minimum grade point average of 85 is required.
• Students may register for no more than two courses each semester.

Fee:

$100 per credit; $300 for a three-credit course.

Registration Process:

• The registration process is done at the high school.
• Students fill out a Marist form at the high school, usually in the school/college class.
• A check made out to Marist College for the appropriate fee must accompany the form.

Registration Due Dates: 

• Fall 2023 - September, 22nd, 2023
• Spring 2024- February, 9th, 2024

Last day to Withdraw from a Course:

• Fall 2023- October, 20th, 2023
• Spring 2024- April, 3rd, 2024

Transcripts:

• Students will receive a grade from their instructor who will submit it to Marist College.
• Transcripts of school/college courses may be requested from Marist's Registrar. This can be done by accessing the Marist web page and clicking the Registrar's site.

Bridge Program

The Bridge Program offers high school seniors the opportunity to complete a full year of college work while simultaneously fulfilling high school graduation requirements.

The Academic Program

• Bridge students take one course at their high school (generally an AP course).  They may also need to take a physical education course at the high school to meet graduation requirements.
• Bridge students then come to the Marist campus to complete their academic program with other Marist students.
• Bridge students will be required to take a minimum of 12 credits per semester at Marist.

Fees Payable to Marist College

• Application fee: $50 (Waived if student continues at Marist after Bridge year.)
• Tuition: *One half of the Marist tuition

*Bridge students are not eligible for any form of financial aid.

Services

• The Director of the Bridge Program is the academic advisor to the Bridge students. She will assist Bridge students in selecting their academic programs in accordance with the students' needs and interests.
• Bridge students enjoy full Marist College library and computing privileges.
• Bridge students will receive Marist College ID cards and campus parking permits at the Bridge Orientation in late August. They will be entitled to use all student services and attend all college events open to Marist students.

Procedure for Applying to the Bridge Program

• Complete the online Marist College application form.  
• Upon academic acceptance, the student will be required to meet with the Director of the Bridge Program.

Admission to the Bridge Program

• High School students apply to the program in the spring of their junior year.  They must have approval of their High School and meet the Marist qualifications for admissions.
• Academic competence and maturity are among the factors that will be considered.

Registration for Courses

• Registration for fall courses occurs after the administrative processing of applications and deposits.
• Accepted Bridge students will be contacted in mid to late June to meet with the Director. At that time, individualized schedules will be created.
• Parents are enthusiastically welcome at this meeting.
• Verification of two measles, mumps, and rubella inoculations must be presented at this meeting in order to complete the registration process.
• Registration for spring classes follows the same procedure.
