Summer & Academic Year Programs

All services offered are designed to increase academic achievement, and to assist students in developing a sense of self-reliance and independence. These services are provided year-round through the program's summer and academic year components.

Summer Program
During the summer, a six-week residential program is held at Marist College's main campus. The summer program offers students a chance to experience college living and to prepare themselves for the adjustment from high school to college. Students are expected to attend academic classes and to participate in study groups, sports, lectures, and career planning classes four-and-a-half days per week. Classes offered are designed to strengthen skills and to introduce new material in English, mathematics, science, social studies, and foreign language starting from ninth grade through college course level. Services offered to the students include personal counseling, recreational activities, and trips to colleges and historic sites.

Academic Year Program
During the school year, Upward Bound provides workshops that emphasize study skills, academic planning, career exploration, and assistance with college admission and application processes. The program also offers tutorial services, as well as a variety of cultural, social and career-oriented field trip activities.

Summer Bridge Program
A special feature for our graduated seniors is the bridge program. This program enables eligible seniors going to college in the fall to enroll at Marist College and take two introductory or college credit courses for which they may earn up to six credits.
