A brief description of my organization:
“Clearwater is an organization that is focused on the environmental issues facing our nation, specifically looking at the issues on our Hudson River. Its goals are really to educate people about the river and the environmental issues of our area as well as instill a sense of ownership and responsibility in everyone so they feel like they have a role in helping the environment. They also do a lot of advocacy for clean water and air and are working on getting petitions to Washington to change things related to these issues.”

My role at the organization:
“My role in the organization is to help with the educational program as well as add a new program focused on microplastics. Microplastics are a new environmental threat in our area that I have spent all of my previous summer studying. I am now taking my research and creating a new educational program that is fun and informative on the topic.”

How Tarver is important to my future endeavors:
“It is helping me understand the scientific community more as well as understand how to communicate with different demographics. It is overall giving me a better sense of how organizations that fight for environmental protection work and how important environmental education is at all levels.”
