Discovering Spanish-Speaking Countries: Study Abroad Night
DEC 4, 2014 @ 8pm, MU3202
The Spanish Honors Society, Sigma Delta Pi, presented a night of opportunities to discover different Spanish-speaking countries in which to study abroad. Students who studied abroad in various Marist International Programs in Latin America and Spain spoke about about their experiences and prepared dishes from the country in which they studied. In addition, Salsa Restaurant donated food for the event. Underclassmen enjoyed listening to the stories and events from each country, as many were interested in studying in a Spanish-speaking country. Sigma Delta Pi looks forward to doing a similar event once again in the future!

Spanish National Honor Society Raises Money to Repay Microloan in Mexico
Led by seniors Rosetta Mastroiani and Caitlyn Murphy, Sigma Delta Pi held a bake sale in order to raise funds to help a woman pay back her microloan from FINCA’s Village Bank in Cuautla, Mexico. Lenders such as FINCA are nongovernmental organizations established as an alternative to traditional banking that are changing the course of economic development in Latin America by empowering women and communities that have been marginalized. Sigma Delta Pi also announced April 17, 2015 as the date of the spring induction ceremony. Congratulations to all Spanish majors invited to become members!
