Alumna Profile: Margaret St. John '06


  After graduating in 2006 with a major in English, Margaret St. John
  attended law school at Quinnipiac University, where she published
  her work in the Quinnipiac Probate Law Journal. Since her admission
  to the bar in 2011, she has also authored or co-authored work for
  Trusts & Estates Magazine, Estates & Probates Newsletter, and

  Q: What kind of work do you do now?

  A: I am an attorney at Withers Bergman LLP in Connecticut. My
  practice focuses on estate planning, transfer tax planning and
  business succession planning for individuals and their families. 
  I also counsel individuals and charities with regarding to charitable
  planned giving.

Q: Which aspects of your Marist experience have proven most helpful in your professional life?

A: Marist provides so many opportunities to get involved with the community. I was able to partake in many different
community service programs throughout my four years at Marist and each experience taught me how rewarding
communityservice can be both personally and professionally. I have carried those values forward in my career through
my work in the charitable planned giving field. 

Q: What advice would you give to students just starting out on their college careers?

A: I would advise students just starting their college careers to use their time wisely. Four years will fly by faster than
you can imagine. From the very beginning of your college career, take the time to develop your interests and discover
where you want your life and career to take you. Then focus in on a goal and utilize all the amazing resources Marist
has to offer in achieving that goal.
