MEMORANDUM TO THE MARIST COLLEGE COMMUNITY
FROM: DAVID YELLEN
SUBJECT: Election Day
As everyone knows, today is Election Day and I, like many of you, will be casting a vote. This year's presidential contest has been particularly hard-fought, inspiring intense emotions among many members of the electorate. No matter the outcome today, there will be strong feelings of disappointment, and even anger, among those whose candidate is unsuccessful.
I'd like to remind the entire Marist community that we should all model behavior representative of both American democracy and the College's values: civility, mutual respect, and graciousness. Once the votes are counted, let us move beyond the election season and come together again as citizens to solve our country's challenges. After a divisive and often dispiriting year, may the members of our college community provide an example of civic virtue in all of our speech and actions.
