Elizabeth (Tish) Hicks is originally from the Hudson Valley, having grown up in Saugerties, NY.
What is your Major/Minor and how did you decide on that field?
I’m a psychology major with a global studies minor. I decided to major in psychology due to my interest in becoming a mental health counselor. With psychology, I could further expand my understanding of people and learn how I could help others to overcome challenges and reach their potential. I later added a minor in global studies to broaden this understanding of people within the context of culture.
What was your favorite part about the Marist experience?
Spending the spring semester of my sophomore year studying abroad in Prague, Czech Republic. Here on campus, I have loved my friends, professors, and classes.
Do you have any plans for after graduation?
I am currently interviewing for Ph.D. programs in Clinical and Counseling Psychology and I am planning to continue on to a doctoral program in the fall.
Any advice for high school junior and seniors considering Marist?
I think you should seriously consider Marist if you are interested in studying abroad and if you value having small classes where all of your professors know your name and are very available for extra help and advising during office hours.
