What made you decide to come to Marist and move so far away from home?
Originally, I was recruited to play a Division I sport at Marist. I looked it up online and I saw how beautiful the campus was and I really liked it's proximity to NYC. So, I did a campus visit and I was sold! For me, Marist was the school that was closest to home; 10 hours away sounded much better than 17 hours away, which were how far some of the other schools were.
What advice do you have for incoming freshman?
For incoming freshmen, the biggest piece of advice I could give is to truly be yourself. Once I truly became comfortable with myself, I met my best friends and my boyfriend, which has shaped my college experience in the best way. As an RA, I try to encourage freshmen to stand on their own two feet and do what they want, instead of what seems cool. When they are who they are, that’s when they find themselves in the proper niche with life-changing friends.
How has Marist prepared you for life after graduation?
I think that Marist has set me up for success in the real world by teaching me how to be confident and communicate properly. I can interview much better, present in front of large crowds, and had the opportunity to lead in multiple cohorts throughout the duration of my time on campus. I think these roles of leadership most prepared me for the real world.
