Annie Callaghan is a junior majoring in Social Work with minors in Psychology and Sociology. She is a member of the Social Work Association, Habitat for Humanity, and Marist Democrats, and studied abroad at the Marist-LdM campus in Florence, Italy, during her sophomore year.
What made you decide to attend Marist?
I chose Marist because I liked the size of the school, the class sizes, the study abroad programs, and the ability to make relationships with professors. The campus and river views were also very appealing!
Why did you choose to study abroad?
Because I have older siblings, I dreamed about going abroad for several years. It was not until Marist that I considered studying in Italy. I love how Marist has its own campus in Florence, and the city was a perfect fit for me. I am so happy with my decision to study there and I met some amazing people.
What is the best piece of advice you would give to an incoming freshman?
Go abroad!! Do not be afraid to go outside of your comfort zone. Attend clubs that you actually enjoy and talk to your professors outside of class. Your college experience is what you make of it.
