What is it about Marist that sets it apart from other schools?
The community. Plain and simple, Marist is a small enough school that you can know a ton of people and constantly be able to see familiar faces around campus. But, it’s not quite small enough, that you still are always meeting new people. I love being connected to so many people and clubs and organizations around campus. From other students to teachers and faculty members, people know me and I know them, which is a great feeling.
Why did you decide to study abroad?
I knew that after college, I would never get an opportunity to travel the world like that again. I immediately chose Florence because I’m Italian and wanted to explore the country where my grandparents are from. Knowing that Marist has a branch campus in Italy and the fact that I would be surrounded by a lot of my friends with the opportunity to travel with big groups and people I am close with was the deciding factor.
What is your favorite memory here?
Aside from my semester abroad, I would have to say my favorite memory is joining and then being elected to the board of the Ambassador program. I remember walking into a conference room, seeing everyone around a table that would end up becoming some of my closest friends and the feeling I had when I was told I was now a part of this board. I’m still extremely close with people who have long since graduated and I’m close with people who in a few months will be taking my place. Joining that board gave me the opportunity to begin working as a social media intern and as a tour guide. Over the past three years, I have grown so much both professionally and on a personal level because of this board and working in the admissions office.
