Liz Gassman is a member of Marist's Class of 2017 from Glenside, PA.
What is your major and how did you decide on that field?
I’m majoring in English with Political Science and Creative Writing. I came into Marist knowing that I wanted to be an English major because it was always my favorite class in high school.
Did you participate in any noteworthy extracurriculars?
I was in the sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma and played varsity volleyball for three years. I’m also in the English Honors Society.
What has been your favorite part about the Marist experience?
I love the professors here. I really haven't had one that I don't love! Even the professors I don't know from a class have always been super nice and friendly.
What are your plans for after graduation?
I applied for the Fulbright grant to teach English in Germany, so I'm waiting to hear back about that. If it doesn't work out, I'm going to look for a job in the publishing industry.
Any advice for high school juniors and seniors considering Marist?
Reach out to the faculty in the departments you might be interested in majoring in right off the bat. They can give you a better idea of what you’ll have to spend your time doing in each respective field, and whether or not you'll enjoy it.
