Catherine Ponziani is a junior majoring in Social Work and minoring in Sociology from Avon, Connecticut. She is an active member of Marist Democrats and the incoming Vice President of the Marist Social Work Association. She also volunteers weekly at Planned Parenthood in Poughkeepsie.
Why did you choose Marist?
I chose Marist because I was very impressed with the Social Work program. I felt I would get the best education in and out of the classroom, as well as individualized attention and relationships with my professors. As I walked around the campus during my many tours, I felt a real sense of community across the scenic campus.
What has been your favorite memory of Marist so far?
My favorite Marist memories would have to be all the New York City trips I have been on. I have gotten the opportunity to see so many wonderful Broadway shows and have really gotten to know the city much better. I really fell in love with it the first time I visited and I can see myself living there in the future.
What are you most looking forward to senior year?
I’m looking forward to doing my senior internship at a local social work agency. They have not told us which agency we will be interning at yet but I am so excited to start using the skills I have learned in class and apply them to real life situations.
