Marist Magazine: Fall 2014 - page 17

Longtime friend of the College Beverly Bruce made gifts to name the Music
Library and Conference Room as well as the Office of the Director of Music
in the new building. Her nephew, Chris Perry ’08, was an outstanding
musician and member of the Marist Band. Pictured are Beverly Bruce
(center) with her brother and his wife, Dr. and Mrs. Ronald Perry.
Immediate Past Chair of the Board of Trustees Rob Dyson is pictured with
his son, Chris, his daughter-in-law Joy Stillman Dyson ’04, and their son,
Nicholas. Rob surprised Joy by dedicating the Piano Studio in her name.
Rob has made many gifts to Marist over the years but has said he found
this gift especially gratifying.
A gift from the Frank A. Fusco and Nelly Goletti Fusco Foundation to
underwrite the recital hall in the new building is the latest in a series of
meaningful commitments the foundation has made to the College. The
Fusco Recital Hall is one of the true gems of the building and honors
Nelly Goletti’s groundbreaking work as a composer and pianist. The
foundation endowed the Nelly Goletti Music Scholarship and supported
major refurbishment of the theatre originally dedicated in Nelly Goletti’s
name in 1995. Pictured are the foundation trustees (seated, left to right):
Christine Cuttler, Frank Giumarra, John Esposito, (standing) John Kennedy,
and Shaileen Kopec.
The Louis Greenspan Charitable Trust made a gift to name the Dining
Hall Lounge in the renovated Student Center, a premier gathering
space for students, faculty, and staff. The trust has generously
supported scholarships and other recent capital projects including
the Hancock Center and the new basketball complex in the McCann
Center. Pictured are Elaine Greenspan and President Murray.
Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees Ross Mauri ’80 underwrote the
Computer Laboratory in the new building. Recently appointed general
manager, System z, at the IBM Corp., he continues to play a vital role in
the College’s longstanding partnership with IBM. He is pictured with
President Dennis J. Murray.
Trustee Chris McCann ’83 and his wife, Kathy ’83, made a gift to name a
lounge overlooking the Hudson River in the newly renovated Student
Center. The McCann Lounge is a favorite spot for members of the Marist
community to congregate.
