Marist Celebrates Social Work Month

Social Work Department Offers Programming for Students and Alumni

To celebrate Social Work Month, on March 9th the department offered a panel discussion of area social workers hosted by the Social Work Association. The panelists discussed their current professional responsibilities, their career trajectories, and future goals. Two Marist alumni working in the field spoke at the panel, Sabrina Floyd and Dominique Garrett.

In addition, alumnus Jen Araujo came to speak in Dr. Rose's class on March 9th about her experience in the Peace Corps. On March 10th, Wendy Maragh-Taylor led a professional development series for students titled, "Working with Children and Adolescents." Students also distributed materials and bookmarks about the BSW degree program outside of the Dyson Cafe to undeclared undergraduates and prospective students curious about the study of social work.
