Marist Alumna Wins Cornell University Outstanding Graduate Student Award
Former Marist chemistry student, Cathy DeBlase (’11), was recently given the Bauer Scholarship Award by the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Cornell University where she is pursuing a PhD in Chemistry. The chair of the department at Cornell stated that “This award is given to a small group of students who exemplify the best we have in teaching, research, and service in our graduate program.” He thanks Cathy’s research advisor, Dr. Jocelyn Nadeau, and the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry, & Physics at Marist College for the role that they played in “providing a nurturing environment and a firm foundation for Cathy’s success.”
The Bauer winners are offered a stipend to defer the costs of a trip back to their alma mater in order to see their former mentors and chat with current undergraduates about graduate school. We look forward to welcoming Cathy back to Marist in the near future.
