Science Student Awarded 2016 Fulbright to Study in Israel

Coix Laconsay

Marist College School of Science congratulates Croix Laconsay on the award of a 2016 Fulbright Scholarship. Croix, a native of Hawaii, graduates this year with a double major in chemistry and philosophy. The Fulbright Program is a highly competitive, merit-based program to encourage international educational exchange. Croix was awarded a research-based scholarship which will allow him to spend a year in Israel conducting research on computational methods to increase understanding of chemical bonds. Croix has conducted research at Marist College under the direction of Dr. Galbraith. He has also been involved in summer research at Marist College and Texas A&M (funded by the National Science Foundation). He presented results of research at American Chemical Society national meetings in Boston and San Diego. Croix has been accepted to a fully funded PhD program at the University of California Davis and plans to attend upon completion of his Fulbright year in Israel.
