Chief Public Affairs Officer
Greg Cannon was named Chief Public Affairs Office in June 2012. Prior to this appointment, he served the College as Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations. He began his Marist career in 2005 as a writer and editor for special projects in the Office of the President.
Greg came to Marist after a 10-year career in daily newspaper journalism, during which he covered local and state politics for The Keene (N.H) Sentinel; environmental issues, crime, and military affairs for the Contra Costa (Cal.) Times; and local government and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point for the Times Herald-Record of Middletown, N.Y. Greg won or shared in several journalism awards, including two Associated Press Managing Editors Awards and the Contra Costa Newspaper Group’s Editors Award.
Greg graduated with a BA in geography from Clark University and worked for five years – most recently as a project coordinator – for the World Environment Center, which helps governments and businesses in developing nations operate more efficiently by reducing pollution. From there, he enrolled in the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, earning an MS in journalism.
