Carla L. Hill

Lecturer in Mathematics

Bio

I grew up in Southeast Washington, DC and went to rural North Carolina for college. I met my husband there, and we spent a year in graduate school at Clemson University before IBM made their last big recruiting push and we came to Poughkeepsie. My husband decided he would rather work than go to school. We have lived here ever since. I started teaching in higher education as an adjunct at Dutchess Community College (DCC) in January 1980. I wanted a job a couple of days a week, a couple of hours a day, and a chance to speak to someone other than toddler and an infant. After a few years in higher education, I realized that it is my calling and have taught ever since. In August 2000, I came to Marist as an adjunct professor. For 10 years, I taught at both Marist and DCC. In August 2007, I was hired full-time at Marist as part of the first group of Teaching Associates. I love teaching and all the kids I’ve taught over the many years.
