New Graduate Student Checklist

Congratulations on your acceptance to Marist College! Now that you have made the decision to join the Marist community, please refer to the checklist below for helpful tips on what to do next!

  1. Return your Attendance Confirmation card.

    Graduate students in the School of Social and Behavioral Science should return the attendance confirmation card which was sent along with their acceptance letters to the Office of Graduate & Adult Enrollment. This does not apply to students in other programs.

  2. Request Transcripts.

    If you recently completed your degree, request that your updated official transcript be sent from your previous institution as proof-of-degree.

  3. Deliver Immunization Form to Health Services.

    N.Y.S. Public Health Law � 2165 requires post-secondary students to show protection against measles, mumps and rubella. All students, including those taking only online courses, must complete the immunization form. Persons born prior to January 1, 1957, are exempt from this requirement.

    You may download a blank form from www.marist.edu/admission/pdfs/mmr.pdf.

    Please note that you will not be able to register for courses if there is not an immunization form on record.

  4. Schedule an appointment to register for classes.

    Students in the MBA and MPA will be contacted by their Graduate Program Director. All other students please contact your Program Director to register for classes. International students will register at international orientation.

  5. Find housing as needed.

    The Office of Housing and Residential Life compiles a listing of available rental properties in the local area. This list can be found on the Student Life webpage at http://www.marist.edu/housing/offcampus.html.

  6. Obtain your ID card. (must be registered for classes first)

    Students who wish to attend campus events or use the library must obtain a Marist College Identification Card. The Marist ID also enables access to Marist Money services, for more information visit http://www.marist.edu/maristmoney/.

    To obtain an ID visit the Office of Safety & Security in Donnelly Hall, Room 201 with your CWID number. IDs can be obtained Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm.

  7. Obtain your parking sticker. (must be registered for classes first)

    In order to park on campus, you must obtain a parking permit.

    Go to http://www.marist.edu/security/registration.html to register your car online. You may check the status of your permit request on the same website. When the permit is ready, you may pick it up in the Office of Safety & Security in Donnelly Hall, Room 201.

    To receive your permit you must bring the following with you to the security office:

    • your Marist ID card
    • a copy of your driver's license
    • a copy of the vehicle registration

  8. Log on to Foxmail and Online Self Service.

    Along with your acceptance letter you should have received information regarding your Marist .email for life. address. This email address will be used for official college communications and, if you have not already done so, you need to login to the Foxmail system at http://foxmail.marist.edu.

    The Online Student Services page gives you easy access to review your financial aid information, register for classes, review your personal information, request copies of your transcript, and view your schedule and grades.

    To log on to Online Self Service go to https://faculty.web4.marist.edu/ahomepg.htm. Select "Enter Student Services" and log on using your Foxmail account and password.

    If you have any questions concerning your email address or Online Self Service, please contact the Information Technology Help Desk at (845) 575-3000, ext. 4357.

  9. Review the Academic Calendar.

    Take note of important dates such as the first day of class, add/drop deadlines, and upcoming college closures at http://www.marist.edu/academics/calendars.html.

  10. Buy textbooks.

    Textbooks can be bought online via the Marist College Bookstore at http://marist.bkstore.com/. The books will be sent directly to your home without a shipping charge. You will need to provide the Bookstore with the complete course number.

    If you wish to visit the bookstore in person, it is located on the first floor of the Student Center. For hours or other inquires, please go to the bookstore webpage or call (845) 575-3260.
