Dr. Malgorzata A. Oakes

Assistant Professor of Studio Art

Bio

Dr. Oakes is a professor, researcher, and a professional artist with a background in painting, printmaking, and drawing. Her work investigates the abilities of genetic memory and search for identity. She is a recipient of local as well as international fellowships and scholarships in addition to various residency programs, international Visiting Professor appointments, and Summer Research appointments at Marist Italy.

An experienced mentor, advisor, and conference speaker, Malgorzata (Maggie) shares her innovative research pertaining to sustainability in the arts. She keeps busy outside the classrooms with community-based workshops within Women’s Studio Workshop, Anderson Ranch Center, and Manhattan Graphics Center. She truly enjoys curating exhibitions and working on collective projects with underrepresented communities, Indigenous people, in addition to European, and immigrant artists, and educators.
